Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about using LinuxTracker.

Do I need an account to download torrents?

No. LinuxTracker keeps the public torrent catalog and torrent downloads available without requiring an account.

What is the difference between a torrent file and a magnet link?

A torrent file contains the BitTorrent metadata for a release. A magnet link identifies the same torrent by its info hash and can be opened directly by most BitTorrent clients.

Where do the seeder, leecher, and completion counts come from?

LinuxTracker reads live tracker statistics from the XBT tracker when they are available. Public pages identify tracker-derived statistics accordingly.

Why should I create an account?

Accounts are used for community and account-specific features. Registration also gives you access to security features such as verified email, password recovery, and optional multi-factor authentication.

Can I upload a torrent?

New torrent publishing is not yet enabled in the modern application. Existing torrents remain available while publishing and moderation workflows are being rebuilt safely.

How do I report a problem with a torrent?

Use the Contact page for the currently supported contact route. More community reporting tools may be added as the site modernization continues.
