b"If you tried to visit Linuxtracker earlier this week, the site was at a dead crawl. The problem appeared to have been a flood of incoming connections to the torrent port 2710. You can see this in the spike of incoming traffic on the bandwidth graph below.\r\n\r\nthis was causing connections to the server to stall or die in many cases as the tcp connection limit was reached. IN addition, it was flooding the MySQL db with calls and causing the announce_log table to fill to over 5gb in a matter of minutes. All of this placed strain on the server.\r\n\r\nWe attempted to block these calls via IPTables and null routing (which seems to work better than IPTables) and for a while that got the server stable. After some research, it appears the IP address was under attack, so we changed the server's IP address.\r\n\r\nSorry for the problems this caused, however you'll notice that 48 hours later, the traffic has dropped back to normal and the server is responsive again. (Unless your JohnCoom...)\r\n\r\nif you notice any problems, please let me know.
