Uploading Files and Cleaning the DB

July 10, 2013

b"First off we want to wish everyone a good summer (or winter for our friends in the southern hemisphere) and we hope everyone is enjoying their vacations.\r\n\r\nSecondly, we sent out an email a while ago about pruning the database. We want to remind everyone that ALL you have to do to prevent your account from being pruned is log in ONCE a year... thats it. Once every 365 days, just log in to the site and your account is safe.\r\n\r\nFor uploading, a couple of reminders, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE use official torrents for distributions if they are available from the distribution's download site. Often times these torrents are well seeded from their end and can server a larger number of people faster. If you check the download site and there are no torrents, then make a torrent file with the linuxtracker announce and upload.\r\n\r\nSecondly, when uploading, please remember to include a valid description (feel free to post the release announcement). One word descriptions or descriptions in foreign (IE: NOT ENGLISH) languages will not be approved. Also, do not copy the entry from DistroWatch word for word. :-/\r\n\r\nLastly, PLEASE include at least ONE screenshot from the distribution when you upload. There are several reasons for this, one it looks nice, its a good preview, it makes kittens happy and so on. Its not hard to visit the distribution's site and grab a screenshot from their galleries (show me a distribution where you cannot find at least one screenshot and I'll show you a dead distro...)"
