starkOS is a source-based distribution, following the KISS philosophy, aimed at experienced users who prefer to have total control over the system.

Minimalism
The system includes only the essentials. Every package, service, or process that runs by default must justify its presence.

Systemd-free
Systemd-free and elogind-free system, it is preferred to use SysV + RC, Runit or s6 init along with ConsoleKit2/seatd as a replacement.

Simplicity (KISS)
The system works better if it is kept simple rather than made unnecessarily complex; therefore, simplicity should be a primary goal in design.

User control
A KISS-based source code distribution, aimed at experienced users who prefer to have total control over the system.

Starkpm managed source-based port system
All ports are managed by starkpm, the starkOS port manager, with no alternative options like flatpak or similar.
