A pair of Linux distributions which install and run as screensavers for Microsoft Windows.

Install QemuSaverOpen-1-8.zip first, then QemuSaverOpenGames-1-5.zip.

QemuSaverOpen-1-8 is the packages from the old freeduc-cd-1.4.1.iso, updated for Debian 12, and without those packages which aren't currently in Debian main .
QemuSaverOpenGames-1-5 is the old GamesKnoppix, again updated for Debian 12.

Install QemuSaverOpen-1-8 first by doing "Extract All" on the zip file on a Microsoft Windows system and running the ".exe" file which appears. Then install QemuSaverOpenGames-1-5 the same way.

The screensavers appear as "fr2" and "gk2" in the Windows screensaver list.

These screensavers are very slow to start (about 7 minutes) but they do eventually get to a graphical desktop. Have patience !

If you need to log out and in again, use user='user' and password='live'.

I have added 'xscreensaver' to QemuSaverOpen-1-8, so now you can have all of your favourite Linux screensavers playing on your Windows desktop if you wait long enough. I have also added LibreOffice4.

The screensavers have been tested on Windows 11 and Windows 10. They should work on several previous levels of Windows.

As a bonus, in the "extras" directory of each zip file there is an "iso", and in the "extras" of
QemuSaverOpen-1-8 there is a copy of Rufus. You can use Rufus to write the ISO to a USB storage key (at least 16GB size) and then boot from that USB key; then you will have a Debian 12 Linux system which runs at full speed.
